Winter Wedding Themes – Winter Wonderland Weddings and More

Is your wedding set during the coldest days of the year? They may not be as popular as spring and summer weddings, but that just means that weddings during the winter months have more chances to be memorable. There are many beautiful winter wedding themes to consider, and with any luck, the ones listed below will help you picture the wedding of your dreams.

The Silver and Gold Winter Wedding Theme

This is a winter wedding theme that is sure to bring out sparkle and vivacity. Silver and gold trim provides a stunning backdrop for wedding arrangements. If you are wearing a simple wedding dress, you can try wearing hooded cloak or even carrying a white fur muff instead of a flower bouquet. The groom can even opt to wear a gold-and-silver tux instead of the typical and black-and-white version.

Winter Wonderland

It may be the most obvious idea, but it creates a mood so gorgeous it’s hard to resist. Best of all, it works almost anywhere, at any time of day or night. Emphasize feelings of snow and ice with crystal wares or diamond accents. Icy blue tones work especially well, particularly with white or silver to serve as a striking complement. Invoke the sparkle from a fresh blanket of snow or icy branches by using centerpieces that glitter, either with actual, fine glitter, or delicate glass that refracts the light. Whiter light, as opposed to a softer, orange glow, might help enhance the look, although if the venue has a fireplace, having a warm, crackling fire in the hearth would be another nice touch.

Victorian Warmth

Sometimes, nothing captures the mood of Christmas better than old-fashioned, Victorian settings. Frosted windows, soft candlelight, deep, rich colors – just a few simple touches can transport you to another, more idyllic time. That same warmth and coziness makes it another perfect fit for winter wedding themes. Whether or not you include Santa, you can still incorporate the vintage styles into your wedding. Pick a warm color scheme that matches the time, and find a few antiques or reproductions, such as traditional candlesticks or old cake toppers, for accents. A historic home or cozy inn can provide the perfect backdrop. As for clothing, you can either use it as a chance to fully dress up in period garments, or just add a few, vintage touches, such as dainty Victorian boots for the bride and stylish hats for the men.

Dramatic Glamour

Capture the look of Old Hollywood or Classic New York, or even go modern – whatever you choose, this is your chance to add some drama and high fashion. Sleek lines and a little flair work perfectly with this theme. Look for furs or wraps, and perhaps stylish hats or striking boots, to keep warm. You could never wear these accessories for a spring wedding, and that’s what will set your wedding apart. Deep reds add an especially rich touch, or you can go more formal with stark black and white.

There are plenty of other winter wedding themes to choose from. In many ways, they can be even more memorable than the traditional springtime events.  It only takes some careful planning and a lot of creativity.
