Planning your wedding is both fun and stressful. But if you have it all organized and carefully prepared, your long awaited day is sure to become a success. One of the very first components of a wedding plan is the wedding theme color. This will become the basis of the color of the wedding dress and the bridesmaids’ dresses, the colors to be included in the invitation, the wedding flowers, wedding favors and of course, the wedding cake.
In planning your wedding theme colors, there are some factors that you have to consider. Take note that you may use what color you have in mind right now or that of your favorite color. These will help you determine what theme to choose. In other words, personal preference plays a certain role here.
You have to choose a wedding theme color based on the setting of the wedding and of the reception. A theme color is well selected if it will suit well with the decorations, the draperies, and the carpet of the selected venue.
Next, you have to decide what atmosphere you would want to create during your wedding day. If you want it to look very tranquil, you may choose a shade of blue as your accent color. If you want to exude an air of sophistication and elegance, choose lighter shades. If you want it fresh and fun, you may have any bright color in mind like orange!
Another fun way of choosing your theme color is to consider the time of the year your wedding will take place. Summer and winter colors generally are lighter ones, while it is good to pick darker shades during fall and spring.
If in case you already have a choice color by now and it would blend perfectly well with the setting, the season and the atmosphere you want, you may try contrasting it with other colors. A way of doing it is to find your color in the color wheel and look for its complement (the one directly opposite to it).For example, yellow and violet complement each other.

Or, you may try blending your colors with other shades of it. Example, if you like a blue theme, you may also add other shades of blue (darker or lighter) to intensify your choice of color.
