White and ivory wedding dresses truly are a classic. Each year however, brides become more and more experimental. Last year’s wedding color trends included more subtle and neutral tones. Colors like black and white, brown, and shades of greens and white were the hottest wedding color trends in 2008.
This year however, brides want a flashier look and would want something unexpected. A word of caution for those who want to be “in” with the fad now: don’t overdo it. If you want flashy colors, do it by adding accents to your linens or table accessories or bridesmaids’ dresses. The wedding dress must remain elegant and classic. This year, bolder and brighter colors seem to please well the new brides.
The latest colors for brides of 2009 are: red and orange, red and yellow, red and pink, bright orange, bright yellow and turquoise, green and yellow, green and lavender, brown and pink, brown and blue, monochromatic colors.
The first three color combinations are the flashiest ones. These color combinations should be used with great caution as they may become overly warm when used too much. Bright orange is one of the hottest wedding colors this year because it is so versatile. Bright orange can be offset by using tones of peach and will look truly adventurous for a daring bride. Bright yellow and turquoise, green and yellow, and green and lavender color combinations look good because they complement each other so well. Brown and pink, and brown and blue color combos may not seem ordinary and are truly for the audacious and extraordinary ones. They exude an air of softness and humility. Monochromatic colors on the other hand are for the less bold ones.
Wedding color trends have changed from long, long time ago up to the present. It represents the heart and the personality of the bride or of her family. No matter what wedding color trend you follow, it should be important that you would choose wisely. Choose something that would really make a statement about you and the one you love. The wedding color trends will just serve as your guide in planning the colors of your special day. Don’t be scared to do a little experiment, though.
