Wedding Color Trends for 2012

A new year tends to bring new trends in the fashion world and the same rings true for weddings as well.  The following are a few wedding color trends for 2012 to keep in mind when planning  for your wedding.

*Color Palettes from the Same Shade

In previous years the aim has always been to come up with a color palette that incorporates two or more colors from complementary shades. This years trends  suggest that brides select a palette from the same shade. By taking inspiration from the French “Ombre”, a single stripe of one shade ranging from deep and rich to subtle and light, brides can create a spectacularly elegant color scheme. This technique helps to create a fine flow in color with no surprisingly harsh elements to detract from the overall attractiveness of the furnishings.

One should not be too shy with the use of the darker elements of color as these will create the perfect balance against the lighter pastel shades that will undoubtedly be the major focus of the décor and flowers.

*Pantones Color of the Year – “Tangerine Tango”

Nothing says “wedding color trends 2012” quite like Pantone’s exquisite Tangerine Tango. This luscious orange-red shade adds a sultry splash of drama and romance to any wedding décor. Bold, daring and yet somehow still chic, this hue has the delightful knack of taking a traditional wedding palette and kicking it up a few notches right into the world of trendy and fashionable.

Particularly in the case of flowers and table decorations, brides are encouraged to connect with their playful side when using this color. A sprinkling of imagination goes a long way when such a gorgeously fiery shade is the design focal point.

*Colorful Wedding Gowns

Off-white and ivory have too long been the queens of the bridal catwalk.  The new year heralds a welcome change in the color choice of bridal dresses. Delicate, blush wedding gowns are now the order of the day – and it is relatively plain to see why. This choice in color enhances the fairytale element of the nuptial ceremony and casts the bride in the role of the ultimate princess. In a blush or pale gold gown, there is no doubt that the bride is the absolute epitome of the romantic heroine every other woman aims to someday become.

*Rainbow Bridesmaids

Bright, vibrant bridesmaids dresses are the way to go. No more plain, uniform gowns for these sassy ladies. This is their chance to see their best friend off in a way that is both entertaining and elegant. Each bridesmaid should have her own unique, colorful dress to create a wedding party that is a stunning rainbow of individual beauty. Of course, this does not mean that the bridesmaids should outshine the leading lady – but why begrudge them a little fun and flirtation on such a special occasion?

* Wedding Colors Ranging from Bold to Classic

This year, wedding colors range from elegantly classic to luxuriously bold. From pale rose and sugar to deep plum and autumnal orange, the color palette is inspirational and extensive. Every bride is encouraged to create a décor style that suits her wants and dreams, and with such a wide variety of colors to choose from this is sure to be a year filled with perfect weddings.

Pale, classic tones and bold, daring shades are brought together in an artistic culmination of tradition and modernity. While, of course, each bride is entitled to choose a scheme that suits her best, some brides may find this choice difficult and so may choose to find inspiration in a delicate combination of bold and classic.
