Nina & Martin wanted a nontraditional wedding full of unforgettable fun for their guests. Not wanting to have their wedding event in the city decided upon a quaint country side venue, Café de Sol, a nature reserve near the Rhine.
The couple being fans of the lifestyle of the 70’s era, and enjoy shopping flea markets to hunt for retro treasures, made the realization that their wedding must tailored for what they love – vintage.
From the Bride: We started collecting old vases: big, small, medium-sized, simple, trashy, broken or still intact. It did not matter. We only wanted them to have charm and fit the occasion. At best they were meant to give our guests a feeling of having a history of their own. We also collected all sorts of empty bottles: wine bottles, champagne bottles, ketchup bottles. We decorated them with bright ribbons, roses and laces. Additionally we filled marmalade jars with brightly colored lemonade tablets.

From the Bride: In our relationship things are a bit different. The proposal was not made in the traditional way by my boyfriend, but by myself. For the two of us it was clear from the outset that we were going to have a big wedding party – with all our friends and the entire family.
From the Bride: It was lucky coincidence that my husband is a gifted and creative graphic designer. During a wine-tasting evening in a relaxed atmosphere we designed the layout for our invitation cards, which later met with great approvable and praise. Since we got quite enthusiastic about our designs, we made the menus, reservation notes for the tables and “thank you notes” all in the same manner.
From the Bride: To amuse our guests we had a photo booth set up in which funny pictures were taken against an original retro curtain as a backdrop. We had also prepared little buttons for each guest with an inscription that was meant to characterize them. Thus funny conversations were sure to start. Additionally there was a vintage style portrait for everyone, an aspirin for the obligatory headache afterwards, and a paper tissue for all the tears of joy.
