Katie & Tim’s late winter wedding in shades of purple with accents of green, photographed by Candace Jeffery Photography, is an absolute stunner! Following a church ceremony, this darling couple held their wedding celebration at the historic Saint Clements Castle in Portland, CT. Katie wore a gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown and her maids wore pretty floor length gowns in plum. Their wedding bouquets, by The Flower Girl Weddings, are a pretty mix of color with the bride’s bouquet in white and shades of purple, and the bridesmaid’s bouquets in shades of purple with pops of green.
From the Bride, Katie:
How did you meet?
We met at a graduation party for one of my best friends from UConn, Tim’s cousin. He made a witty comment about tomatoes in the cook out line which got my attention and our story goes from there.
Tim and I love going to new vineyards and Tim proposed at a vineyard so we wanted to have a winery, rustic and vintage feel. We made our table markers out of wine bottles that we painted the numbers on and our centerpieces were mixtures of mason jars and vases we found at thrift shops filled with a variety of flowers. All of the girls dresses, including the flower girls, had lace and keyhole backs for a more classic vintagey feel. We are also both Irish and the wedding was March 14 so we brought in the Celtic feel as well. Our invitations had the Celtic knot on them, my cousins taught us some traditional Irish dances that we kicked off the dancing with, and the boys in the wedding party wore kilts at the end of the night.
There are too many! Getting ready for the ceremony with our families and bridal parties. Seeing each other at the church for the first time was one of our favorites, everyone else seemed to disappear. Saying “I do” was even better. Our reception was amazing with all of our family and friends and dancing, we couldn’t get enough dancing. Everything about the day was great and truly felt like us.
Do You have any advice for other brides?
We planned our wedding in 7 months, with Tim away at the Fire Academy for 4 of them and me finishing up my last year of graduate school, which made things crazy! Even with all the craziness, the most important thing I would say is to take everything one day at a time and enjoy every minute you have with your fiancé, family, and bridal party while getting to the big day.
