Just as the Earth revolves around the sun, so too should a wedding revolve around the bride. With the recent trend towards a hint of color in wedding gowns, many of the formerly settled rules of wedding attire have been altered as well. Brides who opt for the beauty of a blush colored wedding gown are automatically reducing the number of alternatives for the wedding entourage.
Virginal white dresses have an element of visual pop that allows them to stand out from the surrounding palette of hues. Blush pink is a gorgeous color for a wedding dress but it also is more subtle in its effects. It is important that the bridesmaids and gentlemen do not dress in stronger colors that will overpower the bride. For this reason, muted shades that accentuate the soft aspects of blush pink are probably best for the rest of the wedding party.
• Subdued steel gray or silver provides a nice contrast to blush pink without dominating it. These primary hues will bring out the pink sizzle of the wedding gown while still retaining the soft feminine appeal that made it such a desirable choice in the first place.
• The right shade of chocolate can really stand out against pink without overmatching it. These contrasts between light and dark tones adds strength to the color of the bridal gown.
• Many brides explore the possibility of dressing the bridesmaids in a deeper pink. This can go well or allow the bridesmaids to dominate depending on the actual colors selected. It makes for a fabulous look when done right.
• The ivories and champagnes may provide insufficient contrast to the pink if it is very, very light. The whole idea is to provide a backdrop against which the blush can display to its best advantage.
The combination of the gray and blush pink is probably the most upscale look since it attaches a sort of royal wedding appeal to the proceeding. Whatever color scheme is decided upon, however, it is important that nothing dominate the demure blush colored wedding gown.
