Planning a wedding is not an easy task because it involves many small events and decisions to make concerning the big day, including wedding hairstyles. With the many wedding planners available everywhere, many brides believe there is a magic formula to determine what they should wear such as long hairstyles, short hairstyles, or even hair extensions.

No, there is no such formula, nor right or wrong answers because it is YOUR wedding day, and only you can decide among the many wedding hairstyles, to make this day a big and unforgettable event that it is expected to be. Selecting the perfect hairstyle yourself should be an easy task because nobody better than you knows how good or bad you feel when you look in the mirror.

If you feel, there are too many things on your mind and too little time to accomplish them, get help from professional stylists, avoiding the confusion over what are best, short hairstyles, long hairstyles or a particular hairdo requiring hair treatment, coloration and even the use of hair extensions.

Creating beautiful wedding hairstyles is easy after browsing through the numerous bridal printed magazines or available on the Internet. Who else better than you can knows if you want to wear your hair up, down, curled or straight? Do not worry at all if you have no idea, because if you start planning your hairdo shortly after the engagement announcement, you will have plenty of time to ask your salon for a trial until you are satisfied with the chosen hairstyle.

Long hairstyles are still the favorites of most brides, because they add sophistication and elegance to a wedding ceremony and reception accordingly. However, do not make the mistake of loosing your personal identity by choosing wedding hairstyles that have nothing to do with your own personality.

Go for casual, romantic long hairstyles or practical, modern short styles if you feel that any of them match your own style. The only exception, perhaps, is when you are wearing short hair but you want a fashionable long hairstyle or up-do, although this problem can be resolved if you let you hair grow in plenty of time or opt using hair extensions.

When a wedding is meant to be celebrated with a small number of family members and closest friends, many brides do not worry, as much about their overall attire since there will not be any camera operators, many relatives, circumstantial friends or even strangers to pay attention on details like their hair.

That thought is a big mistake; the wedding day is the bride and groom’s day. Disregard who is attending the event, give yourself the gift of choosing between the wedding hairstyles that make you feel like a queen, whether you chose from long hairstyles, short hairstyles, or fancy hairdos made with hair extensions.

Do you live in the country side? Do you love cowboy hats and horses? If yes, then there is no better way to celebrate your wedding than with a western theme. By doing so, you will be able to show your style and love for the western side. The country style is indeed a fun way to celebrate your special day. Here are some ideas to help you plan your western themed wedding.

First, you will need an invitation. Remember those wanted posters outside the bars in stereotypic western movies? You can make use of those as your wedding invitation. Your guests would surely be delighted to see a wanted poster that’s actually a wedding invitation.

Then, you will need a grand entrance. Expensive cars are a common thing these days. They can be rented anyways. Make use of the western way of transportation – horses. Go to your wedding on horseback! You will definitely be able to turn everyone’s heads.

Of course, no western wedding is complete without a Western Wedding dress. Western tuxedos, vests, and boots make the perfect western outfit for the groom. On the other hand western blouses and skirts make the perfect western outfit for the bride.

As for the design of the reception area, don’t settle with the usual. Spice up the common reception design with some western items such as hats, horseshoes, etc. The centerpiece must be eye-catching as well. Western boots would make the best centerpiece. Put some flowers on the boots to make them look like vases. This centerpiece would be a great way to be stylish and thrifty at the same time.

Lastly, your wedding would be boring without entertainment. But don’t just settle for any type of entertainment. Do it the country way! Have your guests do a line dance where everyone can follow and enjoy themselves the Western way.

Today’s brides and bridesmaids may face a wedding-day challenge that their mothers and grandmothers weren’t able to solve simply with something old, something new, something borrowed or something blue. With the popularity of tattoos, some brides and their bridesmaids must decide what – if anything – they’ll do with their body art as they get dressed to walk down the aisle.

There is no need to panic or look into something as drastic as tattoo removal. Instead, you might consider letting them shine, covering them up or camouflaging your tattoos.

LEAVE THEM ON DISPLAY
Do you feel strongly about your tattoo and what it represents? If you consider your body art to be a beautiful part of you rather than a memory of a drunken mistake that you try to hide, then you probably aren’t interested in covering them up on your wedding day.

If your tattoos mean that much to you, chances are good that your friends and family have learned to accept them. With that being said, they’ll love you and think you look beautiful without going to great lengths to hide your tattoos.

Keep your preferences in mind as you begin to shop for a wedding gown. Do you plan on choosing a dress that will scoop down enough to show the butterfly on your breast? Or a tea-length gown that will show off the tatt on your ankle?

COVER UP
Even brides who adore their tattoos might feel that they are a bit out of place if the wedding is ultra-traditional. There are several options that will let you conceal the tattoo with makeup.

Regular makeup often lacks enough pigment to cover the tattoo effectively. Another downside of using regular makeup is the fact that it can easily slide off of the skin, revealing the tattoo beneath or – even worse – staining your dress.

Several specialized types of makeup are manufactured with the sole purpose of hiding tattoos. A quick search online will reveal many options.

Don’t wait until the morning of your wedding to break out the tattoo cover-up and give it a go. Instead, be sure to purchase the makeup in advance and set aside some time to play with it. A few hours on a Saturday with your bridesmaids will give you enough time to work with the product. It’s also a great way to get the point across to any tattooed bridesmaids that you would prefer to have all eyes on YOU during the ceremony and reception rather than on their tatts.

While some brands of makeup are made specifically for covering tattoos with a light touch, keep in mind that if several layers of makeup must be used to cover the ink, chances are high that the darkness of the makeup will be noticeable to your guests and might also appear darker in your photos.

CAMOUFLAGE
If playing with makeup doesn’t appeal to you, consider disguising your tattoos. This is also a great choice if you would like to downplay your tattoos during the ceremony and then let them shine when it’s time to party.

Camouflaging your tattoos could be as easy as choosing a dress with fabric strategically placed where it will fall over your tattoos. Wide straps or a high collar could cover a tattoo on your neck, shoulder, or chest. Long sleeves might cover the barbed wire around your upper arm or the tattoo on your wrist.

Another option would be to find something to wear over the bodice of your dress to make the tattoos less visible during the ceremony, and then take it off for the reception. Vintage clothing stores are a great place to look for something unique.

A wrap, like something worn with a formal gown, might be perfect for you. An elegant drape would nestle against your inner elbows and across your lower back, with a length of fabric falling toward the floor on each side. For a lighter version of this look, choose a meshy material such as tulle or something to match your veil. If you’ve got the personality to pull it off, a boa might even do the trick.

While many brides skip wearing a veil these days, such a headpiece brushing across your shoulders, or even down your back, could be all that is needed to make your ink discreet.

Weekend weddings are becoming more popular, particularly as families are spread further apart. They usually begin on Friday night, continue with the wedding Saturday and conclude with a post-wedding breakfast on Sunday before everyone returns home.

Planning activities for these weekend-long celebrations doesn’t have to be difficult; in fact, it can be quite a bit of fun if you keep everyone’s needs in mind. First, consider the wedding. Will this be a formal wedding with a sit-down dinner at its center? If so, you might want to ban a formal rehearsal dinner and replace it instead with an informal barbecue dinner or picnic.

But how will you keep people occupied during the long weekend? There are many activities to consider. Will the wedding be near a lake? How about planning a day at the lake on Saturday, filled with pre-wedding activities like swimming races and beach volleyball.

One popular pre-wedding activity is a scavenger hunt. Prior to the wedding weekend, a list of meaningful items should be drawn up, and guests placed in two teams. The list should include things like “get a brochure from the jewelry store where (groom) bought (bride)’s ring” or “take a picture of the group at the location where the couple got engaged”. You will have to tailor the scavenger hunt list to the location of the wedding and the energy of the guests who will be participating.

You can even offer lavish prizes for the team that wins the scavenger hunt, such as gift certificates or gourmet food and wine baskets. It might seem an obvious choice to divide the teams into groups who know or are related to the bride and teams who know or are related to the groom, but it might be a little more fun to mix it up a bit. You can create teams of friends versus family, or men versus women (always a popular choice).

Another activity that’s popular during wedding weekends is a competitive sport activity, such as baseball or flag football. Again, add a special twist. Offer prizes for performance (first home run gets a kiss from the bride) or make silly rules, like members of the bridal party have to wear tiaras while running bases or members of the groom’s family should always have their shirts on backwards.

It’s important that during the wedding weekend, planners keep in mind that the weekend itself might be expensive for some guests, particularly those who had to fly in for the occasion and many of the activities should be free, or inexpensive. If they are more expensive, and planned for the entire group, they should be paid for by either the bride and groom or their families.

But there are plenty of activities that don’t have to be expensive, but can provide big bang for the little buck, such as the scavenger hunt suggested above. If the wedding weekend guests will mostly be family, you can schedule a home movie-viewing event, including home movies from both the bride and groom’s families. For even more fun, consider an activity where the movies are mixed up and the guests have to guess which family’s videos they are watching. This might sound easy, but depending on the contents, it could be hard, particularly if the bride and groom are babies in the photos.

The first decision to make when planning your wedding flower arrangements is whether or not you want silk or fresh flowers. We recommend silk flowers because of the ease. However, fresh flowers can be a beautiful addition to your wedding. Keep in mind that real flowers need to be nurtured even up to the moment you say “I Do”. If you have someone who can monitor the freshness of your real flowers, by all means, have them! If you want to save yourself and your loved ones a little stress, choose silk!

If you do choose fresh flowers, we recommend commissioning the services of a professional florist. Working with real flowers is an art that probably shouldn’t be taken on by a novice. If you do commission a florist, avoid using the “W” word (wedding) as they will most often charge you much more for wedding flowers as opposed to a few bouquets for a random event. Keep in mind that a professional florist will not save you any money. They come at a premium price, so be prepared.

Consider ordering fresh flowers from an online wholesaler. You can get some of the best prices around. However, as we mentioned, unlike at a florist, you will be responsible for all of the prep work of cleaning and trimming them, and keeping them alive until the wedding.

If you’re going for a simple look, you might want to contact a local farmer. Find your local farmer’s market and pick up some freshly cut flowers for a simple bouquet. Consider also picking flowers from your own garden.

Remember that flowers are simply garnishes. There’s no need to go overboard with nosegays or hand-held masterpieces for the ceremony. The real stars of the show are you, your intended, and your wedding party. The flowers simply add to the overall package.

Budget-conscious brides are always on the lookout for unique ways to save money without skimping on any aspect of their wedding or reception, and many brides are surprised to learn how easy it can be to save money on the wedding cake.

//-->

With the average wedding cake’s price ranging from $2 to $10 per slice, or more depending on where you live, many brides are anxious to take a look at saving money at the bakery.

1.RENT A CAKE

One fairly recent trend is to rent a faux wedding cake. Check around your area and you might be able to find bakeries that rent fake cakes, or your own baker might be able to rent you one of the sample cakes she takes to bridal shows if it’s in good shape and not dusty.

Why choose a false cake? They’re often larger and more elaborate, which would make a bigger impression on your guests and have more of a presence sitting on a table at the reception.

Ask your baker about setting one real layer of cake into the fake cake’s setup so you and your spouse can have the traditional cake-cutting ceremony. While you’re feeding each other the first piece of cake, all eyes will be on the two of you, which creates the perfect distraction. Your sheet cakes, in the same flavor as the layer you just cut, will be hidden in the kitchen so that your servers may begin bringing trays full of small plates of already-cut cake out for serving.

2.SMALL TRADITIONAL CAKE + SHEET CAKE

If you’d like to save money without the hassle of locating a rental cake, another option would be to order a traditional wedding cake, but in a much smaller scale. Instead of one giant, layered monstrosity to feed 300 people, order an elegant, scaled-down cake in a size that would feed 50 or 75 people, and be prepared with sheet cake for the crowd.

The smaller cake doesn’t need to skimp on beauty to come in at a smaller price tag than if you would have ordered a larger version of the same cake design.

Again, while you are cutting the cake and feeding your groom, someone behind the scenes can be in charge of slicing and serving sheet cake. Be sure to order it in the same flavor as the traditional cake so it won’t be as obvious that you’ve pulled the old switcheroo.

Sheet cake is a great option to save money because it can be ordered in the same color and flavor as your traditional cake but, since it requires less decorating and less labor, the price is usually significantly less than your traditional wedding cake.

3. NO, IT’S NOT A WEDDING CAKE

Some bakeries jack up the price of a cake at the mere mention of the word “wedding.” To get around this, don’t mention that it’s going to be served at a wedding. When you ask questions about the flavors and sizes offered, don’t let the words “wedding” or “reception” cross your lips. If the bakery asks if this is for a wedding, just tell them you’re having a party.

Order three plain white layer cakes in graduated sizes. After all, simplicity is elegance. If you plan ahead and give yourself enough time to taste around town, you’ll be able to find out which reasonably priced stores offer a cake that will be good enough for your wedding. The local Sam’s Club in my town, for example, makes a coconut cake to rival any cake created by the bakers that exhibit at the annual bridal expos.

Rent a cake stand that will hold the three layers nicely. Wilton, a company long associated with the cake-decorating industry, manufactures several stands that would work and are often purchased by party rental companies to offer their customers. One cake stand that comes to mind has three graduated surfaces, with a vertical metal bar along the back of the stand. When three cakes are placed on the surfaces, they appear to be suspended in mid-air, with the metal bar in the back easily unnoticed once flowers have been situated on top of each layer.

It’s much cheaper if you pick up the cakes yourself and deliver them to your reception site. Although this is a task I wouldn’t recommend anyone attempt with a large, ornate, traditional wedding cake, it won’t be difficult at all if you’ve opted for three individual cakes. Each should be boxed well, making them easy to place on a flat surface in your vehicle where they won’t slide around during the journey. Once you’ve arrived, the cakes will be easy to place on your rented cake stand.

Instead of ordering engraved invitations from a ritzy stationery store, print your own using your computer and printer. Most office supply, stationery or craft stores in your town (and online) have a great selection of paper that can shoot right through your printer. For a wider selection of colors, textures and sizes, browse through a scrapbooking store. Stationery and card stock can even be found on the shelves at Wal-Mart. Beautiful fonts are available for download online, and many are free or very reasonably priced. Look around online for inspiration and then play with your computer and printer until you achieve the results you’re looking for. Or, if you’re lucky, you know someone who is a talented graphic artist and can enlist their help.

Substitute lacy, delicate bridal shoes that you’ll never wear again with white sandals or pumps from the your favorite store’s shoe department. Shoes that are designated as “wedding shoes” tend to be more expensive, plus no one ever finds a reason to wear them in the future.

Ditch the live band at your reception and go with a DJ service. Pick your favorite tunes from their inventory. Or, to save even more money, hook your iPod up to a set of speakers.

Don’t sink your money into a monstrous wedding cake. Order a smaller, fabulous version of a traditional wedding cake and supplement it with sheet cake made to match the color and flavor of the cake and icing. Keep the sheet cake hidden in the kitchen and have it cut, put on plates, and brought out to the dining room so no one will ever notice. You’ll still have a pretty wedding cake for the cake ceremony and photos. Another way to save big on your cake is to place an order from Sam’s or a similar store without mentioning the fact that it’s for a wedding. (They tend to jack the price up for a wedding, while a simple cake in the same flavors will be reasonably priced.) Order three separate, double-layer, round cakes in three different sizes to fit on a rented cake display with three graduated plates. Dress it up with flowers once you place the cakes on the floating cake stand.

In place of an open bar, serve only wine and beer. Or place one bottle of red wine and one bottle of white wine at each table. Your guests will get the idea that the bottles on the table are theirs to consume. If you’d like to have a champagne toast, wait until it’s time for the toast and circulate trays of already-poured champagne. Not everyone will want to participate in the toast, and only a sip is really needed in each glass.

To save even more on beverages, skip the alcohol. Serve iced tea and water with the meal, coffee after the meal, and punch with the wedding cake.

Instead of large floral arrangements as centerpieces, think outside of the box to create centerpieces for each table at your reception. Roses, Gerbera daisies or floating candles are attractive floating in glass bowls. Two or three pillar candles in various heights are always attractive and can be picked up at discount prices following many holidays. Take advantage of the beauty of the area where you live by utilizing sea shells, twigs arranged in an attractive manner, or other natural wonders.

Rather than hiring an expensive photography studio, you can often find very talented people at more reasonable prices. Ask around at camera stores in your area. The people working there are likely photography junkies who either offer their own services or know someone. Photo journalists are usually less expensive and the popular “photojournalist” style of wedding photography is a great alternative to the staid, traditional approach.

Placing disposable cameras on each table has become quite popular over the last several years, but getting all of the film processed can be quite an expense. Instead, ask several guests to bring their digital cameras and encourage them to circulate to get plenty of candid shots. That way, you’ll have images that you would have otherwise missed seeing.

Instead of napkins for the reception stamped with the couple’s names, the date, a cute image or quote, choose solid color napkins from a warehouse club or party supply store. No one notices what is on the napkin as they wipe their mouth and throw it away. Save the money that you would have spent on cutesy matchbook covers, too.
